About Our Business
Plasma Films was established in 2002 by photographer and
videographer Brian Ouellette.
After graduating Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, Brian went
on to Suffolk University in Boston. He then enrolled in a course at the
New York Institute of Photography.
As a still photographer, Brian shot many weddings, portraits and also
promotional materials for local bands. He won an Honorable
Mention award at the 1998 Topsfield Fair for his entry entitled "Yellow
Boat".
He became interested in film when his grandfather gave him an old 8
millimeter movie camera. Brian would record family events as well
as short films and stop action films. This would eventually evolve
into digital videography as the technology for digital non-linear editing
was increasing. He now videotapes and edits weddings,
documentaries, events and corporate promotional materials on a
computer workstation.
In 2003, he produced, shot and edited a full length digital video
documentary on a family with three generations of jazz drummers
called "Three of a Kind".
Brian joined the Woburn Historical Society in 2006 and has
produced
acclaimed video presentations as short films for the Veteran's Oral
History Project. Working with the veteran's history chairperson and
current society president Kathy Lucero, Brian has collaborated in the
production of a series of short films entitled "Woburn's Voices of
WWII".
In 2007 Brian Ouellette and Kathy Lucero teamed up with with local
historian, author and fellow historical society member John D.
McElhiney to produce a documentary on the storied leather industry of
Woburn, Massachusetts entitled "Woburn: A Leather City". With a
well written script by John and the personal touch of interviewer Kathy
Lucero the 37 minute production was well received and highly
acclaimed. After the debut in February 2008, The Woburn Daily
Times Chronicle wrote:
"Most of the audience was amazed by the quality of the film...'A
Hollywood film company could not have done a better job', was an
oft-heard audience comment."
June of 2008 brought more good news as the documentary was
awarded top honors at the 29th annual Telly Awards.
The Telly Awards is the premiere award honoring outstanding local,
regional and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the
finest video and film productions. Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards
annually showcase the best work of the most respected advertising
agencies, production companies, television stations, cable
operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
Also in June of 2008, the latest Plasma Films collaboration with the
Woburn Historical Society debuted another documentary called:
"Serve and Protect" A History of the Woburn Police Department.
